AS Roma have agreed a deal to sign Carles Perez from Barcelona, according to many reports in Spain.
The 21-year-old forward remains under contract with the Catalan club’s B team, but he was expected to make the next step shortly under Ernesto Valverde. However, with Valverde out of the film, Perez has been advised that he has no place in the plans of the recently appointed Quique Setien.
Having failed in their pursuit of Liverpool’s Xherdan Shaqiri, Roma were reportedly keen on Adnan Januzaj of Real Sociedad, but in the moment Perez seems the likeliest alternative. Both clubs have agreed an initial loan deal with the possibility to buy at the end of the season, although the participant is yet to give his approval.
Barcelona are still on the search for a new forward themselves, with Luis Suarez from action for many months. Right now, they are connected most intensely with Valencia’s Rodrigo Moreno, having recognized they don’t have any players of sufficient quality to promote from within — a clear indicator of this situation Perez has found himself .
